“It’s that time of year . . . thinking about harvest . . . and seed options,” said Craig Loen, Federated ag sales rep in Osceola. “Federated has many exceptional seed options,” he said, including Dekalb® and Asgrow® (from Bayer®), NK® (from Syngenta®), Brevant®, Croplan®, Legend® and Renk.

With this “excellent selection of great varieties,” it’s possible to fit your specific field, soil types, agronomic management style, and trait platform.

As discussed at Discovery Plots Days, “if you have observed tar spot in your fields, we can find some varieties with above-average tolerance ratings,” he said. If a field has been identified as having tar spot, the choice of variety going forward is critical.

“We have an excellent corn trait platform to select from,” said Loen (see attachment). Federated offers conventional corn from Legend and Renk, and there is good data on the agronomics of those varieties, Loen noted.

Likewise, Federated offers multiple soybean options: Enlist E3®, XtendFlex®, and conventional beans. Federated’s bulk soybean options will be decided soon as the agronomy team looks for high-yield varieties with “defensive disease tolerances and good agronomics that will cover a wide range of soil types, and maturities,” said Loen.

Your Federated Agronomist is ready to discuss seed options and get your seed ordered early to ensure you get the varieties you want. “We can help you find your seed,” Loen said, adding, “Try some new varieties in your mix of corn and soybean seed . . . see what the new stuff brings to the table!”
